The last time I posted on this site, my daughter was yet to be born. In fact, I think the last time I posted here was the day my wife went into labor. I’ll sum the last three weeks by saying that the birth went very well and my last night of good sleep came on January 29th, 2008. Since that time my wife and I have never gotten more than 4 hours of continuous sleep at a time, we have changed umpteen thousand diapers, and we couldn’t be happier. 10 fingers 10 toes 2 ears and a nose…she’s beautiful.
Our first visit to the doctor was to follow up on a tinge of jaundice (very common liver functioning issue with newborns), and another visit to check up on her weight gain. Apparently, wight gain is quite good (nearly one pound in one week was enough to get a stamp of approval from the pediatrician). We’ll have a 2-month old check up in 5 weeks which will mean immunizations and needles for our little girl.
I have since gone back to work full-time, after staying home for the first week and then half-days the following week. I must admit I hate leaving in the morning and I can’t wait to come home in the afternoon. In the meantime I call to check in on how my baby is doing…feeding well, sleeping okay, or the contents and frequency of diaper changes are a common topic of discussion.
I have also clipped my daughter’s fingernails as face-scratching has become a problem, and in doing so I made her bleed for the first time. It was a small flesh wound, but enough to send her mother into a tizzy of “Will she be okay,” and “Should we call mom(nurse) ?”
This is a quick update, general in nature to catch up on things. I will post more in the future to go into detail on things I am learning in the process.
